Foolishness means to act unwisely and make irrational decisions owing to lack of basic intelligence and information. Foolishness makes a person to follow what others say. Foolish people are gullible and can be taken for a ride. Foolishness makes foolhardy people susceptible to false impulses and hasty decisions, which lands them in trouble or a quandary, quite often. In the words of Alfred North Whitehead, “Almost all new ideas have a certain aspect of foolishness, when they are first produced.”
Foolishness is never an asset and is always taken advantage of. Foolish people can be easily misguided and deceived by others. In the words of George Bernard Shaw, “First love is little foolishness and a lot of curiosity.” Wisdom is gained from experiencing varying situations and circumstances, while experience is gained from foolishness. This is the only way in which being silly can prove to be fruitful.
