Free speech means the right to speak anything at your will without any limitation. Everyone has the right to free speech in a democracy you can express yourselves vocally or in written. The right to free speech has been recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Freedom of thought and speech should never be confused or mistaken for each other. Free speech gives you the right to voice your opinion and make it count. You can speak freely as and when the situation demands. In the words of Anna Quindlen, “Ignorant free speech often works against the speaker. That is one of several reasons why it must be given rein instead of suppressed.”
Free speech basically means the right to express opinions without any interference but it should not be used for slandering others or jeopardising the safety and integrity of the nation or state.
Quote George Washington, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”
