Individuality is a trait or characteristic that distinguishes you from everyone else and makes you a unique individual. There can be one particular quality or several qualities that define you as person and segregate you from other individuals. Individuality is the quality of being individual or different. James F. Cooper had once remarked, “All greatness of character is dependent on individuality. The man who has no other existence than that, which he partakes in common with all around him, will never have any other than an existence of mediocrity.”
Individuality and individualism should not be confused with each other. The former refers to the quality that sets you apart as an individual while the latter is a social outlook emphasizing on the worth of an individual. According to Claude McKay, “If a man is not faithful to his own individuality, he cannot be loyal to anything.”
