Loss means to lose something or someone. When you lose someone, he or she is no longer with you and when you lose an object or entity, you are unable to locate it. Death of a near and dear one is an irreparable loss which causes extreme grief and sadness. Loss can be very tragic.
One is said to be at a loss when one is losing more money than is being made. In the words of Luke Ford, “Acting in anger and hatred throughout my life, I frequently precipitated what I feared most, the loss of friendships and the need to rely upon the very people I'd abused.”
One can lose out on so many things. Great loss of life and property occurs when a natural calamity strikes with a huge impact. You can lose health if you don’t eat a balanced diet and consume all the required nutrients, with adequate water and roughage. Loss of honour and reputation is the most fatal loss which can stain or tarnish your public image. Greg Walden had once remarked, “A $1.7 billion average increase in electricity costs is estimated to result in a $1.3 billion decrease in personal income and a loss of 13,000 more jobs in the region.”
