Love thy neighbor says the bible. But it is almost an impossible thing that all our neighbors are lovable. GK Chesterton humorously remarks, ‘bible tells us to love thy neighbors and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people’. Our neighbors are not just persons but an environment and we are surrounded by a neighborhood of voluntary spies. It is a good habit to develop good relationship with the neighbors provided, they happen to be good neighbors. But if this is not so, follow the advice of Robert Frost that says, ‘good fences make good neighbors”. This is the best advice and refrains from your neighbors if you cannot get along with them well.
