All of us have experienced pain physically or emotionally in one form or other. Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. There is no gain without pain. “pain is such an uncomfortable feeling that even a tiny amount of it is enough to ruin every enjoyment” said Will Rogers. We cannot generalize that this kind of pain is the worst because pain experienced at that moment is the worst of all kinds. Wise men think of causes that are responsible for pain and resort to ways and means that avoid pain. The encouraging fact is that pain helps us to learn several lessons at that moment. We will never repeat the mistakes that were influential in causing the pain. So it is, in a way good to experience pain. Aristotle said “we cannot learn without pain” but it is cruelty to inflict pain upon others and innocent animals.
