Prudence is the quality of taking sound judgements in practical affairs. Someone who is pragmatic will always end up being prudent while taking decisions. It is regarded as one of the four theological virtues. Prudence is associated with the word “prudentia” which means foresight or capacity. It is often associated with wisdom, insight and knowledge. The ability to judge and distinguish between virtuous and vicious actions is called prudence. Practical judgement, practical wisdom or rational decision is called prudence. In the words of Akhenaton, “Hear the words of prudence, give heed unto her counsels, and store them in thine heart; her maxims are universal, and all the virtues lean upon her; she is the guide and the mistress of human life.
