Revenge is any action which causes harm to a person or group in response to some grievance, injury or insult caused by the person or group. Revenge revolves around the concept of returning an evil for an evil i.e. an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Several words are used synonymously with revenge such as retribution, retaliation, vengeance etc. Revenge might be based on some concepts of justice but it causes injury and is more punitive. On the other hand, justice is supposed to be harmonious and restorative. Revenge is based on the logical fallacy that “two wrongs make a right.” While some people assert that it is based on the Hebrew Bible Concept of reciprocal justice which believes in payback i.e. “an eye for an eye.” In the words of Arthur M.
