Reputation is the term used to describe the estimation in which one is held. Character in public opinion is said to be an indicator of a person’s reputation. A good and clean image in the society guarantees great reputation. Reputation in the society is completely in one’s hand. If one is well-behaved, polite and does no wrong to anyone, one will enjoy a great reputation in the society. Reputation is actually the character imputed to a person living in the society.
Good reputation means a great public esteem. A good public esteem is more valuable than money. It is defined as a component of identity as defined by others. In the words of John Wooden, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” Reputation can be considered as a component of identity as defined by others.
