Revolution is the term used to describe an uprising or revolt against the existing state of affairs. A revolution or uprising results in a change in power or the organizing framework in a community. The word “revolution” is derived from the Latin word “revolution” which means a turn around. Aristotle, the Greek Philosopher, had suggested two kinds of revolution. The first kind of revolution involves complete change or switch over from one constitution to another. The second one involves a modification in the existing constitution. Various revolutions have occurred in different periods of human history, with each one resulting in some major cultural, economic and socio-political changes. In the words of Napoleon Bonaparte, “A revolution can be neither made nor stopped. The only thing that can be done is for one of several of its children to give it a direction by dint of victories. A revolution is an idea which has found its bayonets.”
