It is also called effrontery or impudence. Rudeness is a display of disrespectfulness to by not following etiquette or social laws. These laws govern the normally accepted social behaviour. Rudeness is akin to being impolite and offensive. In the words of Lord Byron, “America is a model of force and freedom and moderation - with all the coarseness and rudeness of its people.” Rude people are candidly shameless and offensive in their remarks and analysis of others. They can never speak to someone politely and with manners. In some cases, criminal behaviour can also be considered as an act of rudeness. In the words of James Welch, “Nobody would take checks from Indians, nobody would give them any credit, and nobody would let them drink in the bars. There was rudeness, brusqueness, with which the Indians were treated constantly. At a very young age, that had entered my consciousness.”
