Nobody likes being taken of granted. You are taken for granted by someone else when he or she treats you very casually and is not at all serious for you. Being taken for granted is the worst thing that can possibly happen to anyone. If someone takes you for granted, he never gives you any prominence or importance, always keeps you under subjugation and never considers your opinion. Elizabeth Bowen had remarked, “All your youth you want to have your greatness taken for granted; when you find it taken for granted, you are unnerved.” Since no one likes to be taken for granted, one must not even take others for granted. “Taken for granted” simply implies that we presume things to turn out in a particular way. Avoid taking others for granted and avoid being taken for granted. Joyce Brothers had remarked, “Being taken for granted can be a compliment. It means that you've become a comfortable, trusted element in another person's life.”
