Speaking from experience, many times it is very convenient to be able to have a person to confide in and be able to tell any and everything to, at any given time, without them judging you. Though a friend like this may be exceptional, in the world we live in a friend like that may be hard to come by. Often times a friend like this will be someone you may have grew up with, or known for a long amount of time.

Determinant of the circumstance, a lot of times it is heavily beneficial for a person to keep a smile on their face, even though the emotional or physical pain that they are experiencing is weighing them down. For example, when a leader is wounded emotionally or physically it would greatly affect the morale of his/her followers if he/she were to stop leading and to change the focus of leading the group to accomplish a goal to stopping everyone's journey in order to complain about a newly arisen misfortune.

Pain is an intense sensation of feeling, stereotypically seen as causing distress and uncomfortable, whether it be physical or emotional. The joy of being human allows for us all to experience pain, and overcoming pain is one of life's biggest challenges. A lot of people fear pain, but don't realize that through their pain they grow a tremendous amount mentally, emotionally and physically.

For example, in order for a body builder to make massive gains in size and in strength it is imperative that their bodies be pushed to the limit, leaving them in pain during and after exercise, to acquire the most out of each workout. It takes years for a body builder to turn professional but all their pain and hard work pays off in the end if they push their selves hard enough. This example is synonymous with pain in a lot of different aspects of our lives. Without hard work, dedication, and of course some pain, all gains will be minimal, it takes going through pain to see how far you have come later on in life.
