Only grace is compatible with faith. It is impossible to have strong faith apart from an understanding and appropriation of grace. Grace can only be given to us through faith, and faith can only grow in the sphere of grace. Grace means unmerited favor. If we try to do anything to earn grace, it is no longer unmerited.
