In a literal sense an awakening can mean many things that range from awaking from a slumber to a newly found revival of attention to something that may not have been in plain sight before. The word awakening is also used largely on the religious/spiritual scene, especially in Christianity, as Jesus awoke 3 days after being nailed to the cross according to biblical text. When we are awakened we are synonymously given new life, a new start. We get familiar with new territory; we are able to observe things in a different light, and in many different aspects. Every once in a while, we all need an awakening, doing so is healthy for us spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically. Sometimes an awakening may result from the bad choices a person makes, and sometimes it may result from great decisions one has made. As Gail Sheehy is quoted saying “If every day is an awakening, you will never grow old, you will just keep growing.
