You utter these words to someone in case you feel that you are better off than someone. But comparisons are odious. They generate sparks of ill-feeling and hatred between you and someone with whom you compare yourself. It is never sane to compare yourself with anyone else. Compete with yourself and not with others. The challenge is to be better than yourself, always. Spending time and energies in comparing yourself with some other person will always kill your time. Analyze yourself. You should figure out that as an individual, what are your strengths and what are your weaknesses. Thinking of yourself to be better than some other person won’t help your cause at all. So, going out to someone and saying that “I am better than you” does not make any sense. Warren Buffett had remarked, “It's better to hang out with people better than you. Pick out associates whose behavior is better than yours and you'll drift in that direction.”
