Rhymes involve repetition of similar sounds in two or more words. It is used in composition such as songs or poems. The word rhyme refers to a short rhyming couplet or poem. Any composition which is written in the form of a verse has the form, with the verses bearing some sort of correspondence with each other, giving rise to a sort of harmony in language, is called a rhyme. Nursery rhymes are short rhymes taught to kindergarten kids. The word “rhyme” originated from word “rime” which is derived from the old Frankish Language, meaning “a series or sequence.” John C. Ransom had once remarked, “Now, between the meanings of words and their sounds there is ordinarily no discoverable relation except one of accident; and it is therefore miraculous, to the mystic, when words which make sense can also make a uniform objective structure of accents and rhymes.”
