Therapy is the treatment or remedy to fight any health problem and is generally followed by a diagnosis. It is actually synonymous or tantamount to the word “treatment”. A preventive therapy aims at preventing any medical ailment from occurring. On the other hand, abortive therapy aims at preventing any ailment from progressing further. In the words of Caroline Rhea, “Being in therapy is great. I spend an hour just talking about myself. It's kind of like being the guy on a date.” Supportive therapy does not aim to improve any underlying condition just aims to provide some comfort to the patient. Overtreatment is the treatment that is unnecessary of disproportionate to the situation. In the words of Carl Rogers, “I believe that the testing of the student's achievements in order to see if he meets some criterion held by the teacher, is directly contrary to the implications of therapy for significant learning.”
