So the vision of Microsoft is pretty simple. It changed a couple years ago. For the first 25 years of the company, it was a personal computer on every desk and in every home. And it was a very good vision; very rare for a company to be able to stick with something like that for 25 years. The reason we changed it was simply that it became acceptable. . . . And so as we stepped back and looked at what we were trying to do with the programming model, turning the Internet into the fabric for distributed computing, getting your information to replicate in a very invisible way so that it was available to you everywhere, thinking of this programming model spanning all the different devices, we changed to the mission statement we have now, which is empowering people through great software anytime, any place and on any device.

So finally, on about the fifteenth tee, I hit the drive of my life. And any of you people who play golf, you know the drive I'm talking about. The minute you hit it, you just drop your club. You hang on to the beer, let's don't get stupid. And I watch this ball just go and go and...kind of hit this guy in the head. And I felt bad, but he overreacted, I thought. I mean, it wasn't like a square hit; it just kind of glanced off his head. But he goes whippin' his car off the freeway, like 'here we go!' Mr. Attitude! So now, he's barreling down the fairway screaming at the top of his lungs, like 'what are you, some kind of cruddy golfer?' I'm like, 'hey, I hit you, didn't I? You were traveling sixty-five miles an hour. That's a pretty good shot in my book.'

I really prided myself on my fashionable dress. I had a very independent streak and thought, Im going to dress super cool and different than everybody else and everybody is going to be envious of my cool clothes. But looking back, I realize that nobody was envious and Im sure they were laughing. I really prided myself when I was in eighth grade for not owning a pair of jeans, and I never wore jeans for a year and a half. I wore a tie to school every day, although I didnt have to. But then I started moving into kind of like new wave kind of style and was really into thin ties and really baggy pants. And I remember when that movie Pretty In Pink came out, some people in my school said you totally remind me of that guy, Ducky. And I thought that was a compliment.

In high school, there are so many cliques. You're never safe. In between my junior and senior years, I went away to film Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and I came back ready to do the things with my friends that we always did, but things change. People get older, and there are some inside jokes that you don't know about that have happened. You feel lost for a while, and it's hard to come back from that. Then the friends who have 'replaced' you are territorial. I've experienced that a little bit. There are catty, insecure, and gossipy girls everywhere, but for me, I don't think it's a matter of any of them being genuinely bad at heart. I just think that maybe the different ways in which people are raised make them different and insecure. They point out the bad things in others just to make themselves feel better. It's everywhere.

It is great to have options. But too many options can overwhelm you and sometimes even paralyze you to the point that you are unable to choose anything at all. Anyone else ever have this problem? This can apply to your career, your love life, and pretty much every other choice you're faced with on a daily basis. It's almost like you know you're the best running back in the world but when you find yourself facing a hundred holes too chose from, you think only one is going to lead to a touchdown... so you choke and stand still. You'll find yourself on the sidelines watching others play the game that you know you're best at. So...Make a choice! Follow your gut. You will be wrong at times. But when you get tackled...get your a.. back up, regroup, and attack through another hole. This game called life is brutal. But if you always focus on your goal and keep pushing, you'll find yourself exactly where you wanted to be. It may take a few more attempts than you planned but you'll be the one crossing the goal line, not someone else.

I was living with these three girls. One of them picked up [Hawkwind keyboardist] Dik Mik one night and brought him back to the flat. We got talking and realized we had a mutual interest in seeing how long amphetamines could make the human body jump about without stopping. He brought me into the band as his pill-popping buddy. They said, "Who plays bass?" And Dik Mik went, "He does." I'd never picked one up in my life. Hawkwind was a complete blitz: We had projectors shooting images all over the place, fireworks going off, nude dancers -- we were fu..ing fierce. We'd dose the audience with acid, lock the doors so they couldn't leave, then send them into epileptic fits with subsonic frequencies and strobes. Those were the days. I would never have left if they hadn't fired me.

Have you ever noticed the way you always fall in love with the wrong people. When your chatting with friends and they ask you what your dream guy is like and you reply that he is a little bookish, romantic, he bits you flowers and writes you poems, he's good-looking but not in an obvious way, he talks with you and isn't interested in only one thing, he doesn't look at other girls, he calls each night and you can talk for hours, he likes the same music, food and books. He is perfect. And all your friends are nodding, buyout of the corner of your eye the boy. He is a player, he is smokin hot, he doesn't read, doesn't write poems, can't talk for hours, doesn't believe in flowers, hates your music and is allergic to your favorite foods. And you hate how hopelessly in love you are with him.

Love Confusion Single quotes
I don't want a perfect girl, perfect doesn't exist. I just want a girl who's perfect for me. A girl who I can talk to for hours without getting bored. A girl who understands me and who will always be there for me. I want a girl who would sit down and play video games with me, she'll take the controller and act as if she knows what she's doing. I want a girl that I can be weird with and she's jus t as weird. We can joke around, play pranks and have fun with each other. I want a girl that leaves me special messages where she tells me her feelings, it's like a reminder of how good of a job I'm doing in making her happy. I want a girl who has confidence, values, and knows exactly what she wants. Most importantly, I want a girl with an awesome personality. A girls personality is what sets her apart from the rest, it's what makes them unique and that's why I love it. Ultimately, at the end of the day I just want a girl who I can call mine, a girl who won't hurt me and who will accept me for me.

HEART, n. An automatic, muscular blood-pump. Figuratively, this useful organ is said to be the esat of emotions and sentiments --a very pretty fancy which, however, is nothing but a survival of a once universal belief. It is now known that the sentiments and emotions reside in the stomach, being evolved from food by chemical action of the gastric fluid. The exact process by which a beefsteak becomes a feeling --tender or not, according to the age of the animal from which it was cut; the successive stages of elaboration through which a caviar sandwich is transmuted to a quaint fancy and reappears as a pungent epigram; the marvelous functional methods of converting a hard-boiled egg into religious contrition, or a cream-puff into a sigh of sensibility --these things have been patiently ascertained by M. Pasteur, and by him expounded with convincing lucidity. (See, also, my monograph, _The Essential Identity of the Spiritual Affections and Certain Intestinal Gases Freed in Digestion_ --4t

My simplest advice to everyone out there; If hurts, let go. Life is way too short to waste any time at all. Youre only young for so long, and every moment you spend dwelling on the things that only cause you to hurt, is precious time wasted where you could have been out adventuring around, making more memories to look back on. Nobody wants to remember the nights they sat around crying. They look back at the adventures they had while they were young. The good nights, days, whatever. And when you find someone where it feels like the first time every time, dont let that go. Dont give up without a fight. To hell with anybody who makes you feel like youre ordinary. Dont waste your time. And Im not kidding, when you find this person, hold tight and do not ever let them go. It rarely happens. And youll know it, because its when you feel most alive. Its a pretty shitty world, no jokes. But you can be happy if you want to be.

1 - 2 A long time ago, when all the grandfathers and grandmothers of today were little boys and little girls or very small babies, or perhaps not even born, Pa and Ma and Mary and Laura and Baby Carrie left their little house in the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura Ingalls Wilder But in the east the sky was pale and through the gray woods came lanterns with wagons and horses, bringing Grandpa and Grandma and aunts and uncles and cousins. Laura Ingalls Wilder Every job is good if you do your best and work hard. A man who works hard stinks only to the ones that have nothing to do but smell. Laura Ingalls Wilder Everything from the little house was in the wagon, except the beds and tables and chairs. They did not need to take these, because Pa could always make new ones. Laura Ingalls Wilder Far worst of all, the fever had settled in Mary's eyes, and Mary was blind. Playing Arthur, I'm sorry to sound sappy, but it was a gift from the Gods. I've always been a working actor and I've always made my living in acting for a long time. I'd been auditioning for that show, I knew the casting directors pretty well. Arthur was the fifth character I auditioned for on the show. They kept bringing me in for parts and not finding anything for me. I actually wasn't supposed to audition for the part of Arthur, I was auditioning for one of the gay choir members from David's choir. Then I read about that part and went, 'Oh my God, that's perfect for me.' And I asked permission to read for it right then and there. I went in and auditioned without any preparation whatsoever and I think that probably helped me because I didn't overthink it. It was an amazing experience. Those shows are so well written and so well acted they're like little one-hour movies. So in a way I got to do like twelve or thirteen little one-hour movies as a very interesting and complex character. Everyone was really cool. Alan Ball, all the artists behind that show, were just so supportive and great and that really helped launch my career. I'm really grateful to the show for that.

My favorite on-screen moment has to be when John and I filmed our dinner scene on the roof during 'The Client.' There was a very small crew up on the roof and they had the cameras really far away. There was a warm breeze and Rainn and Brian were off in the distance setting off really lame fireworks. The whole thing just felt magical. I also love anytime I get to do a party planning scene. Angela, Phyllis and Kate are all so funny. We laugh a lot during those scenes. They are so subtle and passive/aggressive. I love it! My favorite off-screen moment is probably our weekly viewing parties. We have such a great time watching the show together. We cheer for the writer and congratulate cast members for particularly funny bits in the show. Oh, runner-up for best off-screen moment would be how much John made us all laugh when we were filming 'The Fire.' We had to stand outside in the heat for hours but he made us laugh by doing imitations of Angela getting carried away by a giant bug. It was pretty great.
