Psychology is the science of mind and behaviour. A practitioner or researcher in this field is called a psychologist. Psychologists tend to understand the role of mental functions in social and individual behaviour. Psychology students research on various concepts like perception, behaviour, attention, emotion, motivation, brain functioning etc. Psychological knowledge is applied in dealing with treatment and assessment of mental health problems, yet it can also be used to resolve problems in different spheres of human life. In the words of David Chalmers, “Actually, I think my view is compatible with much of the work going on now in neuroscience and psychology, where people are studying the relationship of consciousness to neural and cognitive processes without really trying to reduce it to those processes.”
