Sermons are oration by clergymen or prophets in Church. These orations harbour around some philosophical, spiritual, Biblical, moral and ethical topics. These beliefs are based on a specific type of behaviour, law and order that existed in the past or exist presently. Preaching of sermons include exposition, exhortation and finally followed by practical application. Sermons are basically discourses delivered in public by clergymen to provide spiritual, moral and religious teachings and based on some text or passage of scripture. Sermons are deemed as serious lectures teaching us about morals, principles and duties. In the words of John Trachan, “With the requests of some he complied, and has published a discourse, delivered before the Society for recovering drowned persons, which may be justly pronounced one of the most beautiful and interesting sermons in the English language.”
