Twilight, again. Another ending. No matter how perfect the day is, it always has to end.

I self-edit all the time when Im writing. I enjoy reading the story over and over, tweaking it as I go.

It took me three months of super-obsessive behavior to complete. I did no plotting or planning, I just let the story tell itself, and my only challenge was typing fast enough to keep up.

To me a story is a story...I dont even think about where it might belong until long after its written.

I can't read other people's vampires. If it's too close, I get upset; if it's too far away, I get upset. It just makes me very neurotic.

I didnt expect the novels to be a success with anyone, so no. However, Im not surprised that there is an adult following. I wrote the first book with no other audience in mind besides my own 29-year-old self. It seems natural to me that Twilight appeals to other women my age.

Reading was really my only training in fiction writing. I never took a class or read a book on how to write. I just absorbed the basics from reading thousands of other peoples stories.

I wrote Twilight at about the pace of a runaway semi on a steep down slope. It took me three months of super-obsessive behavior to complete. I did no plotting or planning, I just let the story tell itself, and my only challenge was typing fast enough to keep up.

I didn't write these books specifically for the young-adult audience. I wrote them for me. I don't know why they span the ages so well, but I find it comforting that a lot of thirtysomethings with kids, like myself, respond to them as well, so I know that it's not just that I'm a 15-year-old on the inside!

When I write, I forget that it's not real. I'm living the story, and I think people can read that sincerity about the characters. They are real to me while I'm writing them, and I think that makes them real to the readers as well.

The only time I really did any research on vampires was when the character Bella did research on vampires. Because I was creating my own world, I didn't want to find out just how many rules I was breaking.

Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything.

I got a degree in English from Brigham Young University, but I didnt study creative writingjust literature. I was too much a coward to write my own stories and let people see what was going on inside my head. One of the biggest challenges of my writing career has been getting past that shyness.

I've developed this humongous love for 12-year-old girls! They have the best questions, and they're so into the stories. You really can't write for a better audience. I say to all other authors: If you're not writing for teenage girls, you're missing out on a lot of love.

With Rob actually, we sat down and talked about Edward's character before the filming started and I'd just come in and met everyone. It wasnt an argument, but we actually disagree on his character. I'd be like, 'No, this is how it is.' Hes like, 'No, it's definitely this way.' And the funny part about it, you know, is here we are arguing about a fictional character and yet in the performance he did what he wanted and yet it was still exactly what I wanted. So that was really cool.
