When you have a strong connection with someone you will be able to communicate with each other just by thinking it. I do this with my kids and I used to do it with my ex. Now when they call me they ask if I was thinking of them. I've done this with old friends that I have not talked to in years,now I'm in communication with them again. What do you have to lose?
