Never let anyone control you or tell you what you can and cannot do its your life not theirs you live it. dont let them live it for you. It's your choice. Sometimes it comes to the point in life when you need to answer your own questions. Anyone else's guess is just as good as yours is. 'You have been through it, how did you do it.' They may have been through it they can give a little advice but every life is different and unique in its own way you will have to find a way out. Everyone is different know one is the same there may be similarities but their will always be differences.
