The state or quality of being inconsistent is called inconsistency. Inconsistency refers to lack of consistent or fruitful performance. When someone is inconsistent, he or she is unable to maintain his or her performance over a period of time. Inconsistency refers to the tendency of an object or thing to undergo periodic changed, influenced by several reasons. In the words of Henry Ward Beecher, “Children are unpredictable. You never know what inconsistency they are going to catch you in next.”
Inconsistent performance or output is never considered good. On the other hand, inconsistency or the tendency to accept changes is always appreciated. In the words of Joseph Addison, “Mutability of temper and inconsistency with ourselves is the greatest weakness of human nature.” Inconsistency just refers to absence of consistency. You as an individual should be able to make out areas which demand consistency and which don’t.
