Ingratitude means to be unthankful or ungrateful to someone, even when someone has helped you in any way. Ingratitude should not be shown to anyone who stands by your side to help you when you need any aid. Ingratitude is treason to mankind. Benjamin Franklin had once remarked, “Most people return small favours, acknowledge medium ones and repay greater ones - with ingratitude.”
Gratitude should be shown to serve who duly deserves every bit of it. The Almighty or the Providence needs to be shown the maximum gratitude because all of us are his creatures, created by him. In the words of Alphonsus Liguori, “Assuredly, Loving Souls, you should go to God with all humility and respect, humbling yourselves in His presence, especially when you remember your past ingratitude and sins.”
