Inventions pertain to something novel or new. They refer to a new composition, device or process. Inventions involve great insight and creativity on the part of the people behind the inventions. Any invention can be made on a previously existing idea or might be independently conceived. In the latter case, the invention assumes more value and is deemed as a major breakthrough or advancement.
Necessity is said to be the mother of inventions. Any invention which is new and is not known to other skilled professionals in a field can assume the legal protection through a patent. In the words of Dean Kamen, “A patent, or invention, is any assemblage of technologies or ideas that you can put together that nobody put together that way before. That’s how the patent office defines it. That’s an invention.”
