Any individual who performs murders consecutively and is on a killing spree is said to be a serial killer. A serial killer performs more than three months in a period of almost a month. There is some planned down time period between the murders. The usual belief is that the main motive of a serial killer is some sort of emotional, mental or sexual gratification. Basically, FBI reports that the desire for sex prompts killers to find preys or victims rape them and eventually kill them. People who take up serial killing are mentally retarded and murder their victims just to poor out their wrath and to extract vengeance. In the words of Pat Brown, “Telling the community a serial killer is out there stirs up a lot of unpleasant attention. The accepted definition of a serial killer is a person who kills at least three times with a cooling off period in between his murders. The most important issue for the killer is the ability to get a victim easily and successfully.”
