Wood is a hard, fibrous tissue which is found in plants. Wood is used for several purposes such as construction of furniture for living houses and is even used as a fuel. Wood is a fossil fuel basically. Wood is produced as a secondary xylem in the stems of trees. In living trees, it transfers water and nutrients to the leaves and other growing tissues and even performs the support function of enabling huge trees to stand erect for themselves. In the words of Suzi Quatro, “A bass should sound like a bass with the thump of the finger against the wood, like it began with stand up.” Wood can be dated using carbon dating technology so as to make inferences regarding the date of creation of a wooden object. Construction with wood is known as carpentry. Saw and axe is used by carpenters to cut and slice wood into finer pieces. According to Francis Bacon, “Age appears to be best in four things; old wood best to burn, old wine to drink, old friends to trust, and old authors to read.”
