Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore.

Song Lyrics quotes
'Born this Way' is about being yourself, and loving who you are and being proud.
I'm really free-spirited about love and sexuality, which I think is apparent in my music and even the visuals, which are all very androgynous. But the minute you say something about who you are, people think you're just playing the 'edgy card' and that's not what I want people to think of me as. I want them to think fashion, pop culture, avant-garde, fearless - the girl who brought the straight boys into the gay club.
My goal as an artist is to funnel a pop record to a world in a very interesting way. I almost want to trick people into hanging with something that is really cool with a pop song. It's almost like the spoonful of sugar and I'm the medicine.
I don't like to reveal anything about my personal relationships with artists because it is so sacred to me, but I will say that one of the most important things I experienced as a young woman was being empowered by all of these strong women who were running the music industry.
I really believe I have two hearts. I think I actually carry two souls in my body, and that I'm living out the rest of her life and her goodness, she died a virgin, she died never having experienced all these things that we all get to love and experience in our lives. I think that I work in her image. I work in this life as part pop singer and part humanitarian, and to do great things for people because she was a good person and I don't think she had enough time to do enough good.
Women have to make decisions and its the toughest thing ever. Is it a man or is it a career? I was with a man once who couldnt understand that other things could come first. I tried not to let them but then I was just unhappy, I had to break away. I know I run the risk of being alone for ever, but its the price Ill have to pay.
My name is Lady Gaga, and I was born and raised in the unbreakable streets of New York City. Thank you so much. Tonight, I want you to forget all of your insecurities because I didnt used to be brave but you have made me brave, Little Monsters.
I love so many wonderful artists, I love Adele. I think Adele is wonderful and I'm so excited at the success she has had over the past couple of weeks with the Brits and everything. It's so wonderful. I love so many people! Obviously it's no surprise that I love Elton and the Pet Shop Boys as well.
I always felt kind of like an outsider...in pop music, and just from high school and I remember Lady Starlight looked over at me and said, If she can do it, you can do it, So I always felt like Amy had opened a door for girls like me who didnt fit that exact real pop mold and real wholesome. She was really special, And shes gonna be greatly missed.
I'm supposed to be, I am an artist. Yes, I'm lonely. But I'm married to my loneliness.
I was very depressed when I was 19. I decided to pursue music, so I dropped out of school and I told my parents I didn't want any money from them. I got three jobs and I just hit the ground running. I would go back to my apartment every day and I would just sit there. It was quiet and it was lonely. It was still. It was just my piano and myself. I had at television and I would leave it on all the time just to feel like somebody was hanging out with me. And especially during the period when I was doing cocaine. It was like the drug was my friend. I never did it with other people. It's such a terrible way to fill that void, because it just adds to that void, because it's not real.
In my earlier days of writing for myself, I wanted songs to be more complex. I thought they had to be for me to be taken seriously as an artist. But writing for other people, you get to learn things about yourself and take on their insecurities. Now I can appreciate and incorporate more simplicity in lyrics and melody.
I played every club in New York City and I bombed in every club and then killed it in every club and I found myself as an artist. I learned how to survive as an artist, get real, and how to fail and then figure out who I was as singer and performer. And, I worked hard.
A friend of mine, who will remain nameless, who is a gay man, he actually taught me to put baby powder in my bangs when I get sweaty. It makes them look fabulous, because I get gnarly when I perform.
I used to get in trouble a lot for wearing very low-cut shirts and see-through stuff with bras. And there were definitely some girls that would, you know, drink in the cafeteria and shit like that, and they would get thrown out of school. I never got caught for anything like that. But we were definitely bad kids in a good environment. I mean, I was actually a very good student. I just sort of stuck out like a sore thumb, no different than today. But I value my education a lot. It's interesting because even though in a social way, it was kind of a weird environment to grow up in, in a lot of ways it was great because I'm a really great musician as a result of it.
