I have a lot of really close, important friends of mine who live in Los Angeles and a lot of good things in my life have happened to me in Los Angeles or have come from Los Angeles. That being said, it's too hot for me. The architecture is ugly. You can't walk anywhere. The food sucks. Everyone's carrying guns. It's like every time I go down there, the division between rich and poor becomes increasingly more and more marked until...Los Angeles seems to be up there with Bogota in terms of cities where the super rich are as rich as anybody on Earth but they live in gated communities and have black SUVs driving them with bodyguards and then the rest of the people live in fucking shanty towns. I've never seen it as bad as L.A. There's just no middle class. It's horrible.

I just adore Los Angeles. New York has great restaurants and its fun to walk around there, but Im from Los Angeles and all of my friends are here, its such a beautiful place.

I was working on Broadway in New York, and the Broadway strike happened, and my costar was working on a pilot with Ryan Murphy out here in Los Angeles. Whats funny is I really thought I would be handicapped in Los Angeles because the kids had a real wild way of dancing, whereas back in Chicago it was really more on the cool bop side. I looked at the California style and I said, 'This just isnt gonna work.' I was completely mistaken.

My parents are both very funny but they're also relatively soft-spoken, normal human beings while I'm just a lunatic. I don't know where this loud, ballsy, hammy ridiculousness came from. I'm just glad I followed my goals and my parents did too. It's not like we even had a plan when I dragged my mom to Los Angeles.
