Everyone has family but it may not always be in the traditional form. Many of us have people who were there for us that aren't part of our bloodline but acted closer to us than many who are our family by definition.
This doesn't mean that we should necessarily turn our backs on those who are our blood related family members, but it does mean that we owe a lot more of our loyalty, and time to strengthen the relationships that will help add to our lives, instead of adding more to the relationships that yield little to no return on our investments into them.
Your family is made up of the people who claimed you, and the people who chose to stay with you regardless of what the situation entailed. Just as they were there for you in good times, and in bad times, so must you be there for them!
