It all boils down to the attitude of the new leader. There is enough research to show that the first 100 days are critical for a new leader, in any such situation. The first few steps, the early interactions with the team, the initial impact and the overall chemistry between the leader and his team in the early days often define the long term success - or failure - of that engagement.
