I think you need to tell her how you feel because if you just tell her you cant be friends for a while its going to look like you left her in the ditch. just let her know that you are falling for her and see if she will catch you or not. you never know her feelings could change.
Have you already tell her how do your feel? if not I hope you don't regret it later. You already have a good step to begin with. In order to move on you need to stay away from her. If you already tell her your feeling and she cannot accept it. Just tell her you need a time to forget her, and because of that you need to keep your distance.
I know that feeling I am actialy sitting in the same boat right now.... and wanted to do the same thing you want to do.. Its not right thing to do. Because you don't feel that she doesn't like you as the way you do so you want to broke your friendship with her. Be with her you are her best friend she will need you and you too. Everything will be alright if you want you can express your feelings to her.
