We should all have a filial concern for Our Father and His will being accomplished by our own hands in the manner He prescribes. Yet if we take ourselves and even life itself too seriously, we will by a natural process become neurotic; Or we will think of our worth as inflated and bequeath to our identities more exaltation than they deserve. In fact, without the merits of Our Lord, of His death and resurrection, they deserve no exaltation - only repugnance and shame - and punishment. However, since we have been saved, since our sins have been effaced by the sacrifice of Jesus, since by cooperating with His grace we are assured of going to heaven, we had better cultivate a sense of humor. Especially because as humans we are so changeable, because we are in fact, more than we might see, so ridiculous, in our vicissitudes, in our bizarre thoughts, in our inconsistent behaviors - to be blunt, because we are indeed so objectively laughable, so also should we laugh.
