Well I think by respecting and caring and stick to them in a good way ( when they're alone or bored or down and make them feel better ) , it wont be easy and it may took time but in the end I think in the end they will respond to your feeling (am talking about good people of course , if he or she has a bad personality they might start toying with you so be careful :) )
