Clothes have become too important and films are saturated with fashion. So you find yourself wearing designer clothes that aren't relevant to your character. I'm always so intrigued by Christopher Guest and his movies, like Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. He hires the actors and they all come up with the story and the concept, improvise. And they are all responsible for their own hair and make-up. They buy their own clothes, are in control of creating their characters. I would love to do that.

I would love to do a musical, like on Broadway. That's like the dream of my whole life. I always wanted to be a singer. Or get to sing. I haven't been able to do that, and I would love to do that.

Subtlety is my favorite thing in cinema. It lets you dream. When everything is on the nail and on show, it leaves no questions in your mind. I find that so boring.

I guess what I like most about NY is that it feels like home to me. I was born here in 1977 and have lived here, on and off, my whole life. I feel very connected to NY. I love how much it has to offer, though it still feels small and cozy. There are so many amazing things to see here: incredible art, just about every film, amazing music, all kinds of interesting people. I like to ride my bike on the Hudson River . I like that I can walk my dog around two blocks and he meets about 20 other dogs to play with. I like that I can get a turkey sandwich at 4 in the morning if I want to. A beautiful night out in NYC can be any night because anything can happen. It is spontaneous and surprises you all the time.

Life excites me. I'm not talking about appearing in movies or doing interviews, but just little, normal, everyday things. Getting out of bed. Getting dressed. Making food. I find it all exciting, you know?

I work incredibly hard, and I would say the nature of being an actor involves a lot of studying. Every time you're playing a part you're preparing and you're researching and you're studying and you're working with various types of teachers and actors and directors...I think I was 15 or 16 when I made my first film, so my training in a way, sort of schooling, was on the set and doing the real thing.
