Buddha said it greatly when he made this analogy to sharing happiness in life. When we give the gift of happiness we give a gift that never stops giving. Not only does giving give the actual giver feelings of joy, it also gives the recipient of the gift feelings of joy, appreciation and self-worth. Giving usually even inspires both the recipient and the giver to give more, so that they may experience these feelings again and again. Many of us choose to just give around the holiday season, and that is fine, but there are people without the essentials in life all year long.
Let us try to keep the spirit of giving a thriving spirit all year long. Doing things such as volunteering at a food kitchen for a few hours on a Saturday, or taking old clothes to a shelter for abused women and their children may go farther than you may have ever thought it could. Whenever we choose to bless someone one of the main things we do is inspire, and by giving hope to somebody who may be at rock bottom can be a life saver, and most definitely a life changer.
