Competence means being capable enough to be considered as a competition. Competence comes from qualities that a person possesses or the skills that he has, which have been harnessed over years to acquire perfection. A person can become competent only if he is dedicated, persevering and has a quality which some revere and appreciate while some envy. Competence only comes when a person takes up things completely out of the box, which then come to the notice of all and sundry, who then acknowledge that person as a probable competition.
Quote verbatim, "Competence, like truth, beauty and contact lenses, lies in the eyes of the beholder." This famous quote by Laurence J. Peter suggests that a person may not always be considered competent by each and every one around him. Very few people can stand competition from competent people. Competence, nevertheless, comes to the notice at some point of time, anyhow.
