Before you I knew just what to do. I knew how to put one foot in front of the other and get out of bed every day. I had the motions of life on autopilot and the emotions set to mute. Then you had to come along with your sledgehammer and smash down my wall of tightly constructed protection. I pushed you away day after day, but you unrelentingly removed my armor bolt by bolt. With your sweet silver, tongue you melted my core and stole my heart. You became my best friend, my rock. Then you left without showing me how to survive on my own again. You didn't prepare me for the excruciating pain of lonliness. Nothing prepared me for the suffocating despair unanswered hope would bring.
