Every couple goes through problems, thats natural. afterall these problems prepare you both for future. girl, if you really love him and if you are honest about everything which you feel for him, just tell him openly, in person. and have patience, guys melt soon if a girl really love them. but as you say, its been 3 years, so have patience. best of luck.
