Canada Day is celebrated on 1st July every year in Canada. It is a statutory holiday in Canada marking the day when the country came into existence in 1867. Canada day commemorates that year in history when the foundation of Canada was laid and this country was recognized as country on the world map. Canada was recognized as a country in the North American Continent. Three colonies under the British Empire were united into a single country called Canada.
Originally known as the Dominion Day, the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year in which Canada Act was asked. Canada Day observance takes place throughout the world, both within Canada and internationally among Canadians. Canada is popularly referred to as Canada’s birthday. Canada Day marks the joining of British American colonies such as Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Province of Canada. The Province of Canada was divided into Ontario and Quebec.
