Protest means to revolt, retaliate or express your disapproval against something. It means expressing objections against policies, events or situations, by either words or action. Vandalising is one form of expressing protest which gives rise to violence. Forms of retaliation or protest can be mitigated by government action, orthodoxy of the social structure and media monopoly. A counter-protest may follow a protest so as to weaken it. In counter-protest, counter-protesters express their support and strong compliance with the objects, policies or events that formed the subject of protest. Expressing opposition is protest in simple terms.
In the words of Mary Tyler Moore, “A human being has been given an intellect to make choices, and we know there are other food sources that do not require the killing of a creature that would protest being killed.”
