I can honestly say, all the bad things that ever happened to me were directly, directly attributed to drugs and alcohol. I mean, I would never urinate at the Alamo at nine o'clock in the morning dressed in a woman's evening dress sober.

The best way to wake yourself is to brew a pot of fresh coffee, then run it through the machine a second time using the old grounds. While youre doing that, make an espresso then add that to a mug of the double-brewed coffee. In my house, we call it a red-eye. Drink one first thing Monday morning and youll be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the rest of the week.

I've been trying to stay sober for 22 years. Some days are bad and some days are great. I get up every day and I pray, 'Don't let me drink today.' I don't like it, but I accept the fact that I can't drink. It's hard, especially at Christmas. But all I know is I'm a very, very lucky man to still be alive and I appreciate that.
