The term “deadbeat dad” is used for any father who is not financially supportive of his children. Any male who becomes a father willingly but opts out of providing financial support for raising his children is referred to as a “deadbeat father”. Similarly, a deadbeat mother is one who opts out of her motherly responsibilities. Both the terms are used very commonly in United States and Canada by the child support enforcement agencies to indicate those parents who decide to give up their parental responsibilities and leave their kids in a lurch. “Deadbeat parents” is a term which might also be used for parents who molest their child to a degree unpardonable in the eyes of law. According to Rod Blagojevich, “One of the greatest challenges in collecting child support is that deadbeat dads move from job to job and state to state. It’s hard to keep track of them.”
