To ridicule someone means to subject someone to mockery or derision. An object of ridicule is a laughing stock and someone whom people mock disparagingly. The experience of being ridiculed by a group of people in a public place is extremely harrowing and embarrassing. People get embarrassed to the extent that they end up committing suicide too. To save yourself from being ridiculed, act wisely and rationally. Have friends who support your views and come to your rescue if they see a possibility of you getting ridiculed by a group of people. Someone subjected to ridicule, ends up becoming a laughing matter. In the words of William Blake, “The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity... and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”
