Modernity is inescapable. We cannot afford to blindly follow all the principles, views and customs of our ancestors without giving them a new look. So, modernity is unavoidable. But the problem arises when modernity is not clearly defined. It differs from one person to another. More generally, modernity is what is followed by the majority of the people. “Modernity is the transient, the fleeting, the contingent .it is one half of art the other being the eternal and the immovable”. Social customs, personal life and culture wear a new look under the cover of modernity, but it is left to the individual to follow it or not. Some people follow modernity fearing that the might not be included in the mainstream and this compulsion only leads to falsehood. The challenge of modernity is to live without illusions and without becoming disillusioned.
