Major holidays are the gazetted holidays on which everyone is granted a leave or holiday. These holidays are declared by the government in every country, in the beginning of the year. Major holidays basically include holidays on the major festivals celebrated in the country, the nation’s independence or republic day and some other days which hold some specific historic importance. The working crowd and the school going children get time to relax and unwind, when such a holiday falls.
As school going kids or working professionals, holidays on major occasions provide great relief and comfort. They even provide each and every individual in the country to celebrate some special days in the vicinity of their near and dear ones, and not at their workstations. In USA, we have major holidays on the occasion of thanksgiving too. In this context, John Clayton had remarked, “There is no racial or ethnic involvement in Thanksgiving, and people who may be very distant from the Christian system can see the beauty and the positive spirit that comes from the holiday.”
