Contemplation means thinking. Contemplation is a deep and serious thought process. The reasons to be indulged in contemplation can be diverse or plenty. One gets into the contemplative mood for even soul-searching at times. Indulging in contemplation or thought process and then talk therapy with oneself, can be a source of morale enhancement. Contemplation always stands one in good stead. But excess of anything is bad. Excessive thinking is not always good. It can make someone too much reserved and taciturn. People who contemplate a lot can even suffer from mental trauma.
In the words of Lewis Munford, “A day spent without the sight or sound of beauty, the contemplation of mystery, or the search of truth or perfection is a poverty-stricken day; and a succession of such days is fatal to human life.” He considered contemplation to be important for human beings. It is a source of respite for some.
