Defeat is to win a contest or competition, in which you emerge victorious among all competitors. To defeat someone simply means to beat the person in some particular field of common interest. Defeat or getting beaten by someone, demoralizes many people and shakes them like anything. But, only those who take lessons from their defeat take it in their stride, can manage to move on in life. In the words of Carl Sandburg, “Back of every mistaken venture and defeat is the laughter of wisdom, if you listen.”
Defeat comes for the better, at times. In many ways, defeat can also be considered as a blessing in disguise. Every defeat teaches us something or the other and there are several lessons that are noteworthy. A defeat should be taken positively because it contributes a lot, in improving your personality. In the words of William Marston, “Besides the practical knowledge which defeat offers, there are important personality profits to be taken.”
